Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA volunteers, advocate for the best interests of an abused or neglected child who is under the protection of the Fairfax Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Volunteers visit the children on their cases twice a month and interview social workers, therapists, teachers, and other professionals, gathering information to report back to court. Volunteers receive extensive training and are supervised by a professional staff. CASA volunteers search for information by reviewing records and conducting interviews with parents, teachers, doctors, therapists, and service providers. Most importantly, CASA volunteers get to know each child and make sure the child is safe.
