**Please note**
At this time, we are not accepting new volunteers with the Backpack Buddies program at Galilee Church due to the COVID-19 situation. We hope to reopen these opportunities for the 2020-2021 school year.
Over 14,000 children in Loudoun County are food insecure. What does this mean? That they may not know where their next meal is coming from. As the wealthiest county in the United States we find this statistic troubling and unfathomable.
The Backpack Buddies program at Galilee Church serves 400 students involved with 7 programs at 6 Loudoun County Schools by providing weekend meal packs every week of the school. Each year, our volunteers pack and distribute over 15,000 meal packs to our seven partner programs and we can't do it without the support of our local community!
Volunteer drivers are needed to transport food from the pantry (located in Sterling, VA) to schools in both Sterling and Ashburn, VA. Volunteers MUST be able to lift 40 pounds and have a vehicle large enough to transport multiple bins.
