NEST4US has a partnership with Panera Bread's Day End Dough Nation Program. Through this partnership, we pick up unsold bread products from Panera Bread and distribute them to various shelters in the Washington Metro area. IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Please meet us at the respective Panera Bread store for pickup. One of our NEST4US volunteer leads will provide you more instructions regarding dropping off the bagged breads.
- Donations can be dropped off anytime Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
- If you are looking to drop off donations at ONLY Virginia shelters, please sign up for Wednesday (Sterling & Lansdowne) Panera Food Rescue slots.
- Volunteers have to be present for food rescue (both pickup & drop-off) in order to receive volunteer hours. Parents, please don’t volunteer on behalf of your child & email us asking for volunteer hours approval for your children. In any organization, the volunteer must be present to receive the hours credit. Thanks for understanding.
- Volunteer Hours: Pick up (1 hour) + Drop off Donations at VA shelters (1 hour) = Total 2 hours (Includes picking up, packing, AND dropping off the donations at your assigned shelter)
- Volunteer Hours: Pick up (1 hour) + Drop off Donations at DC & MD shelters (2 hours) = Total 3 hours (Includes picking up, packing, AND dropping off the donations at your assigned shelter)
- Please pack any open items in small food bags before dropping them off at a shelter/food bank. Our volunteer leads will provide you with packing supplies.
- Please fill up ONLY one volunteer slot/family
- As you know, due to COVID19 guidelines, we have reduced the number of volunteering slots to 3. If you can't make it for a food rescue, please make sure to email or message us well ahead of time (Give us 48 hours notice, thanks for understanding)
- If you don't show up once, we will delete your slot on the signup for future dates.
- Please email (info@nest4us.org)/text (703-839-2953) volunteer pictures (inside or outside the shelter) for volunteer hours approval
