NVRC is partnering with the National Park Service and Loudoun County to conduct a feasibility study of trail alignments, maintenance, and planning for a network gap in the PHNST in Loudoun County, Virginia. The area of study spans from the Northlake neighborhood in the Town of Leesburg to the Virginia portion of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in northwest Loudoun County and the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. NVRC has selected design and planning firm, Lardner/Klein Landscape Architects, to conduct this study.
A public meeting will take place on Thursday, May 16th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Lucketts Community Center in Lucketts, VA. The general public, including community members, businesses, and other interested parties, are encouraged to provide their input on the study. Feedback will help the consulting firm and project managers to understand how individuals currently use or plan to use the PHNST in Loudoun County, as well as to gain ideas on potential areas of interest where the trail could extend, such as neighborhoods, parks, visitor attractions, and retail businesses. Informational displays and maps will be available for informal review with the consulting firm and project managers between 6:00 and 7:00 pm, followed by a brief presentation and discussion at 7:00 pm. There is also an option for remote participation during the meeting’s presentation portion from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, which can be accessed with Zoom registration.

As detailed in the press release above, interested parties can provide feedback through the project's StoryMap application, which includes an interactive map for users to pinpoint locations of interest for the trail route as well as a short survey questionnaire form. The project’s public feedback period will be open through Monday, June 3rd.
