Who We Are
Mission: To address global poverty by advocating for the world’s poor at the political level.
The Borgen Project is a nonprofit organization focused on addressing global poverty by advocating for U.S. government action and policies that can make a significant impact on poverty alleviation. Founded in 2003, our primary goal is to make poverty reduction a priority in U.S. foreign policy. We work to mobilize citizens to advocate for policies that improve the lives of people in extreme poverty worldwide.
What We Do
By focusing on U.S. foreign aid and supporting international development programs, the project seeks to promote long-term, sustainable solutions to poverty, education, healthcare, and economic development. At the Borgen Project, we…
- Advocate: We meet with U.S. Congressional leaders to secure support for crucial poverty-reducing legislation.
- Mobilize: We mobilize people across the globe behind efforts to make poverty a political priority.
- Educate: We teach basic advocacy skills that allow citizens to communicate with their government.
- Issue Message: We build awareness of global issues and innovations in poverty-reduction through our online and community presence.
