The Greek Orthodox Church believes in the Holy Trinity,
the divinity of Jesus Christ, and a process of salvation called theosis, or
deification, through a lifelong spiritual effort involving faith, good works,
and the Church's Sacraments. They venerate sacred icons, believe in
the intercession of the Virgin Mary (Theotokos) and the saints, and
understand sin as a spiritual illness to be healed through God's
grace. Central to their worship is the divine liturgy, which
celebrates the Eucharist, as the true body and blood of Christ.
