Who We Are
Saving Children’s Lives…that is the reason Mobile Hope was created. Nurturing and supporting children, 24 years of age or younger, who are at-risk, precariously housed or homeless in Loudoun is the reason for our being. Our goal is to provide a foundation of stability for our youth to reach their full potential.
Using the McKinney-Vento definition of homelessness and the Social Determinants of Health framework, we are creating a system for young people to move from an unstable, unhealthy life to one that is stable and healthy; creating a framework to become a more productive.
Our At-Risk Youth Support program works with Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS), the faith community, first responders and human service organizations to reach our clients.
Mobile Hope is a grass roots organization. As you know, youth homelessness is at an all- time high. We are making difficult, yet positive change. Many have said - “what did we do before Mobile Hope was here?” That type of statement truly validates our purpose.
Mobile Hope has realized over the last four years of operation just how vital our services are to those in our community that struggle every day. The responsibility that Mobile Hope carries justifies the awareness of knowing that there are children in our community who are hungry, homeless, struggling and fearful. This reality makes us work harder to ensure we are here for years to come. Mobile Hope has created a program that is community owned and valued. It is through empathy and compassion that Mobile Hope’s existence acts as a beacon and a model through which we should all take pride. Mobile Hope believes that all children should grow up in a safe environment with all the tools that they need in order to become successful and productive members of our community. Mobile Hope has a tireless passion to provide support to the at-risk youth in our community.
What We Do
Utilizing the Social Determinants of Health framework, Mobile Hope’s At-Risk Youth Support program, provides: (i) emergency food, hygiene and personal care items; (ii) medical and dental care referrals; (iii) clothing; (iv) financial support for school-oriented programs such as GED testing, SAT and college application fees, medical insurance for an athletic to play sports, meals for athletes at away games, Behind the Wheel fees, supplies for a student to take a cosmetology class, yearbooks and prom fees, and emergencies such as housing, hotel stays, gas, automobile expenses (licensing fees, transfer fees and maintenance and repair), (v) case management; and (vi) life counseling and emotional support, including referrals to other human service organizations, physicians and dentists. On bus distribution and Shopping Night a hot meal is also provided.
The Critical Care program is an adjunct program to the At-Risk Youth Support program. It largely supports 18-24 year olds. Qualifying clients are in severe crisis and require extensive case management and financial assistance predominantly for housing.
