Who We Are
Since its founding in 1971, MVLE has been creating opportunities for people living with disabilities to work and participate successfully in the Northern Virginia community. During its 51-year history, MVLE has continuously demonstrated progressive fiscal growth and service expansion. Today, MVLE serves more than 450 individuals with disabilities in a variety of center-based and community-based support and employment service choices and opportunities. While MVLE has a philosophical commitment to facilitating and supporting the employment of as many individuals as possible in community-based worksites, it is also committed to maintaining a viable and supportive facility-based program which provides community access activities. MVLE’s aim is to maximize each individual’s functional capacity through the acquisition of useful skills that enable him or her to more fully participate in community life. An integral component of this approach is MVLE’s array of center-based, community-based vocational and day support services, which provide multiple options for customizing each participants services, training and support. MVLE also operates five AbilityOne programs (formerly JWOD).
