Community Foundation for Northern Virginia

The Community Foundation has directed charitable dollars to people in need since 1978. Its grantmaking levels have grown through its efforts to assemble a variety of endowed funds from individual donors. Since its inception, it has awarded more than $50 million dollars in grants and scholarships and has grown its asset base to more than $70 million. The Community Foundation has become a leader in the region through recent initiatives that engage all sectors of our community and highlight philanthropy’s role in solving complex social problems.

The mission of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is to grow philanthropy to respond to need, seed innovation and lead and convene the community.
