Garden volunteers at Dodona Manor play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the beauty of the gardens. They assist in various tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, pruning, and general garden maintenance. Garden volunteers also help with seasonal tasks like mulching, composting, and preparing the gardens for events and visitors. Their efforts contribute to the overall preservation of Dodona Manor's historic gardens.

As you can imagine taking care of Dodona Manor, the house of General George and Katherine Marshall, built in 1805 is a labor of love. If you enjoy performing maintenance tasks and light repairs, we would love for you to join our team of volunteers. Email or call us for more information.

Docents greet and conduct tours for visitors to Dodona Manor. General George C. Marshall bought a house in Leesburg while serving as US Army Chief of Staff during World War II. He then served as Secretary of State and architect of the European  Recovery Program ("Marshall Plan"), President of the American Red Cross, and as Secretary of Defense. Docents should possess excellent public speaking skills and be willing to learn an extensive amount about Marshall, his house, and its furnishings. Resources and training are provided. Interested people should first take a tour of Dodona Manor, open to the public on Saturday and Sunday and by appointment during the week, to understand the role of docents.
