Job Title:         Treasurer
Purpose:          Serve on the Executive Committee as the financial administrator/representative for Friends. 

Key Responsibilities:

Day to day accounting responsibilities using QuickBooks - roughly 2-3 hours a month. Executive committee responsibilities Annual development and management of budget. Work with outside advisors - bank, CPA, investment firm, insurance firm with annual reviews and annual tax reporting. Responsible for staying up to date with all state and local financial regulations for non-profits. Annual VA reporting. Attend monthly board meeting and report on financial status. Attend other board strategic planning meetings, as necessary. Keeper of all financial documentation required to be held in storage. Aid in grant financial reporting as needed. Provide tax documentation to donors. Aid in fundraising for the Friends and promoting the non-profit. Follow all financial policies and procedures of the organization. Recommend updates if needed to the Executive Committee.

Qualifications Required: QuickBooks knowledge, prior use a must.  Basic bookkeeping skills. The ability to read a financial report.  Basic computer skills.

Support:  Support the Fundraising Committee, the program manager for the financial assistance programs (A Place to Call Home and A Helping Hand) and Contractors Care program.

Throughout the year, Friends of Loudoun Mental Health participates in various activities throughout the county that require the set up and staffing of an information table, handing out information to the public on our core programs.  We also promote our activities such as baseball ticket raffle sales, hockey ticket raffle ticket sales, our Walk with Hope, and events for Friends Being Friends events such as bowling and parties.  Since we are a small working/governing board, it is sometimes hard to staff the tables.

We also are working on our annual fundraising concert and are looking for volunteers to help in the planning and implementation of the concert plans.  This would involve periodic committee meetings.

Friends of Loudoun Mental Health (FLMH) has been active in Loudoun County for over 60 years, serving those with mental illness with financial housing assistance and through advocacy for increased and accessible services, and by increasing awareness of the need for good mental health and the acceptance of the people among us who constantly deal with a mental illness. We are involved in an effort to prevent suicide, especially among teens, and in supporting those who have lost loved ones to suicide.

We are extremely active as we are both a governing and working board.  We are seeking members who have an interest in working to provide financial assistance to Loudoun County residents experiencing disabling mental illnesses, who are willing to speak out as activists to help end discrimination, and who want to support and promote educational programs to make the community aware of mental health issues.

If you are someone who wants to make a difference for people with serious mental illness, or you know someone, please reach out to me.  This organization is on the verge of doing even more exciting things to provide a better life for the mentally ill and for doing our part to erase the stigma associated with mental illness so others may be willing to seek treatment and get their lives back on track. We are especially interested in new members who have an interest in legislative activities in all levels of government to keep the Board informed of proposed bills associated with services and delivery of those services for individuals and families dealing with mental illness.

We also would welcome individuals who have an interest in working with our investments, fundraising, project management and outreach.
