Volunteer: Recovery Team Member - Prince William, Loudoun

Support the disaster recovery of individuals, families, and communities through the activities of Casework and Recovery Planning, Recovery Systems, and Community Recovery.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Conduct client interviews: both initial interview and follow-up conversations, according to standards
2. Assess qualifications for direct client assistance
3. Use the Client Assistance System 2.0 to document the assistance and services provided in the client record according to standards 
4. Assist with recovery planning, problem-solving and advocacy on request according to standards
5. Provide clients with information and referrals to community partners 
6. Learn about the Recovery activities and develop knowledge, skills, expertise in Casework and Recovery Planning, Systems and/or Community Recovery
Has the option to work remotely after completing required training.

Time Commitment: 

Once trained may remain active as long as required as long as an active volunteer. Client Caseworker status will be evaluated and renewed yearly based on performance. Varies with the volume of disasters.  We are looking for a group of volunteers to share the caseload with each person contributing at least 2-3 hours per day (between normal office hours of 9am-5pm), 2-3 days per week (Monday-Friday).

Volunteer: Mass Care Territory Coordinator - Prince William, Loudoun

The purpose of this position is to provide  leadership to Disaster Cycle Services workers in performing the Mass Care activities during preparedness, response, and recovery within a chapter or territory.

Mass Care provides activities and services on a congregate basis to the community as a whole including feeding, sheltering, reunification, and distribution of emergency supplies (DES).This position is responsible for the collaborative leadership of the Mass Care programs within the chapter in coordination with the Mass Care Regional Program Lead including:

Support the annual mass care goals and RDO objectives Oversee and supervise Chapter/Territory Feeding, Sheltering, DES, Reunification Coordinators Develop a plan for mass care services Implement strategies, initiatives, processes and procedures that support the successful chapter wide day-to-day provision of Mass Care services Develop and maintain relationships with local feeding, sheltering, distribution of emergency supplies, and reunification partners Serve as the Red Cross subject matter expert in Mass Care program guidance and tools

Qualifications:

Ability to build and lead a team using a collaborative leadership style and demonstrating traits of honesty, forward looking, competence, intelligence and compassion. This Lead will coordinate with the Regional Mass Care Lead to envision a team’s impact in Mass Care and inspire the team into action. They will ensure the team understands how they fit into the larger DCS structure and how their actions can positively influence and support the DCS Program as a whole. 10 hours per month; Varies depending on regional projects and priorities. At least 6 month commitment.
