Fancy Cats has a critical need for Adoption Coordinators to host the adoption events at all of our Adoption Centers (Fair Lakes PetSmart, Springfield PetSmart, Dulles Landing PetSmart, Chantilly PetSmart, Bradlee PetValu, and Chico's Pet Depot in Great Falls. This is a key position for Fancy Cats and we really need your help. The Adoption Coordinator first screens adoption applications by reviewing the application and interviewing potential adopters. There is specialized training and a shadowing program to ensure our Coordinators know what questions to ask and how to determine a good fit for the cat and the applicant.  The coordinator works in tandem with adoption assistants and foster parents who attend the adoption events.  We depend upon our Adoption Coordinators to find loving forever homes for our cats and kittens.  The Adoption fairs take place every Saturday and Sunday at Fair Lakes and every other Saturday at Springfield and Chantilly and every Saturday at Chico's Pet Depot.  Please feel free to visit our website to see much more about Fancy Cats Rescue Team https://fancycats.org

It's Kitten Season and we need your help!

Fancy Cats is a foster-based rescue and we are always looking for volunteers who are able to take cats into their homes.The cats in foster homes benefit from the socialization they receive by interacting with their foster families.The foster program helps us learn more about an individual cat's habits and personality to better match each cat with their perfect forever home!

Foster homes are often needed for cats residing at one of Fancy Cats PetSmart locations. This gives the cats a break from their time in a cage. Fosters are also needed for new intakes, male and female, young and old, sick and healthy. During kitten season (March through October), our need for foster homes skyrockets.

Short-term foster homes are for cats that need a break from one of our PETsMART locations, or need to be in a home environment, such as kittens or shy cats. A short term foster home also assists our organization with emergency intake cases as needed. Short-term fosters usually last from two to eight weeks, but can sometimes run longer.

Long-term foster homes are for cats staying for two or more months. These cats often like to be only cats, may react very negatively to being in a cage, are older aged or may have a special medical need. Long term foster homes are for cats that are often adopted from a website inquiry because they may be too stressed at busy adoption events or because of a medical issue.

It is important to approach long-term fostering as if the foster cat may be in your home from one to three or more years. Cats with medical needs may be in your home for even longer.

We need your help!

Volunteer with your parent or guardian to get your service hours for school and help us care for our cats at the same time.  You will be feeding them, brushing and playing with them and cleaning their cages.  It's fun and you will love fulfilling your service hour commitment so much you will want to continue after reaching your goal.

Fancy Cats needs volunteers who want to work directly with our cats by cleaning out the cats' cages, feeding them, brushing them and playing with them at our Fair Lakes, Dulles, Chantilly and Reston Adoption Centers.  This is a great opportunity to  spend some quality time with the cats and give them some special personalized attention. They love it and so will you.  Those who want to have cats but can't for whatever reason...this is the job for you.  We welcome Youth Volunteers with a parent or guardian so this is a great way to get community service hours.

Fancy Cats Rescue Team has a quarantine facility at a private residence in Fairfax.  This quarantine houses over 30 cats who are there waiting for room at a foster home, an Adoption Center, sick, or very hard to adopt.  Many of these cats require special handling and are not very friendly to people.  We must have someone who is extremely well versed in cat care and knows how to handle difficult cats.  We will discuss the possibility of this being a paid position.
