Spend an evening on a working farm and help make our biggest night of the year happen.
A Farm Less Ordinary is a nonprofit vegetable farm in Leesburg that hires adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — we call them our Growers — and pays them real wages for real work. Feast in the Field is our largest fundraiser of the year: a multi-course dinner served right in the fields, prepared by Chef Erik of The Polished Foxx from produce our Growers planted, tended, and harvested themselves. It's a beautiful night, and we can't pull it off without help.
What volunteers do:
- Setup — tables, chairs, string lights, linens, and signage (afternoon shift)
- Guest check-in — welcome arrivals, check names, hand out programs
- Bartending support — help our bartender serve drinks and provide back-bar support
- Silent auction support — help guests find items, answer questions, close out bidding
- Dinner service support — water and bread runners, clearing between courses, assisting the catering team
- Teardown — breakdown and load-out at the end of the night (many hands, fast work)
What we need from you:
- Comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting a little farm dust on
- Ability to be on your feet and lift up to 25 lbs for most roles (we have seated roles available too — just ask)
- Ages 16+ for most roles; 21+ required for any beverage-adjacent support
What you get:
- Pizza and drinks for volunteers working the full evening
- Documented volunteer hours (great for students and corporate service programs)
- A genuinely fun crew and a gorgeous sunset over the fields
Shifts available (sign up for one or stay for both):
- Setup & Service — 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM
- Service & Teardown — 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Groups are welcome — if you'd like to bring a team from your workplace, faith community, or club, email us and we'll build a group assignment around you.
