Who We Are

We are volunteers who have a passion for history and for community. We hope to pass the love of history to the next generation so it will continue to be preserved--whether it is a physical restoration or though story--for generations to come.

What We Do

The non-profit Short Hill Historical Society was formed in 1976 as the Hillsboro Community Association. Our mission is to preserve and restore historical landmarks in the Short Hill region. Part of our preservation efforts includes sharing information about the history of the area. We also raise funds for our efforts. Whenever possible, we combine those two as we do through our signature event, the Christmas in Hillsboro Historic Homes Tour. One of our current projects is to restore the Wright Brothers' Mother's sign in Hillsboro. Our non-profit saved the Old Stone School from being demolished and kept its doors open for 40 years.
