BRAWS- Bringing Resources to Aid Women's Shelters

BRAWS - Bringing Resources to Aid Women’s Shelters is a volunteer-driven community organization bringing dignity and empowerment to women and children in need. We achieve this by providing period products and new undergarments and by promoting action and conversation supporting menstrual equity. These values are the foundation from which BRAWS operates and interacts with our stakeholders, including other partner organizations. BRAWS distributes new bras, undergarments, and menstrual products to communities in need, offering dignity and hope in uncertain times. Programs include shelter distributions, onsite fitting events, public school programs, and collection drives. Through partnerships with local shelters, schools, and community organizations, BRAWS distributes new, personally fitted undergarments and menstrual supplies to those experiencing homelessness, transitional housing, domestic violence, poverty, unemployment, single family households, and emergency situations. New bras, underwear, and period supplies are rarely donated; are expensive for shelters, schools, food banks and refugee centers to replenish; and cannot be purchased using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance programs. The products we provide are among the items most requested by disadvantaged women and girls. BRAWS seeks to prevent the unsanitary conditions, health issues, and embarrassment that lack of these products can cause.
