Who We Are

Mission: To build a peaceful society through education & dialogue initiatives, to create a platform that brings people from all walks of life together to find solutions our community is facing, and to support the vulnerable people through promoting solidarity & philanthropy.

American Turkish Friendship Association (ATFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable, cultural non-profit non-governmental organization dedicated to addressing the social, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the people living in Northern Virginia. We envision a society where people live in peace, harmony, and prosperity.

​ATFA was founded in 2003 and supported by individuals who are affiliated with Hizmet social movement. ATFA collaborates with diverse individuals and organizations to foster greater understanding, execute meaningful projects, and strengthen community bonds.

What We Do

At ATFA, we engage in a variety of initiatives aimed at fostering understanding and cooperation among diverse communities in Northern Virginia.

Our programs mainly focus on Arts & Culture, Community Service & Charity, Education, Spiritual, and Community Support. Our activities include:

  • Interfaith and Intercultural Events: Hosting dialogues, panels, and cultural exchanges to build bridges between different faiths and cultures.
  • Educational Programs: Offering workshops, seminars, and courses that address educational needs and promote lifelong learning.
  • Community Services: Organizing food drives, back-to-school campaigns, and other charitable activities to support those in need.
  • Social Gatherings: Facilitating community-building events such as holiday celebrations, family picnics, and networking events.
