Who We Are

Mission: To promote literacy and education by providing books and reading materials to ALL children, with a special focus on those in economically disadvantaged communities.

StoryBook Treasures was founded in 2014 by Denise Corbo, inspired by the success of her kindergarten students. Motivated by their growth, Denise dedicated herself to creating a program that fosters confidence and a love of reading.

We serve Pre-K through 3rd-grade students by offering books to build home libraries, creating engaging lesson plans for educators, and providing support to parents to nurture literacy at home. Our mission is to empower children through the transformative power of reading, opening doors to lifelong learning and endless opportunities.

What We Do

StoryBook Treasures advances its mission of promoting literacy and education for all children through a comprehensive, school-based reading program. We provide Pre-K through 3rd-grade students with books to build home libraries, along with engaging toys, tote bags, and t-shirts to make reading fun and exciting. Teachers receive curated lesson plans and workbooks to support classroom learning, while parents are provided with bilingual resources (English and Spanish) to encourage reading at home.

By prioritizing economically disadvantaged communities, we ensure that children who need these resources most are empowered to read, build confidence, and take pride in their learning. Through these efforts, we inspire a lifelong love of reading and academic success.

Additionally, we organize packing events throughout Loudoun County, sponsored by local high schools and clubs, where students earn volunteer hours, learn about nonprofit work, and contribute to the packing of StoryBook Treasures kits for distribution to children in need.
